Census snubs motorcycles

Motorcycle riders fear a snub in the latest census could mean there is not enough data for decision-makers on Australian motorcycle ownership and use.

Question 54 of the national survey asks how many registered motor vehicles, owned or used by the household were garaged or parked nearby.

But it also advised respondents to exclude motorbikes and scooters.

Motorcycle Riders Association ACT branch president Jen Woods says the growing popularity of two-wheeled vehicles was ignored.

“My first reaction was surprise,” Ms Woods said.
